“It’s snowing.” Dawn stared at the fluffy white flakes as they drifted past the window and added to the already thick blanket of snow covering the ground.

“I hear it does that in some places around Christmas.” Spike’s voice came from behind her. “Hellmouths, even.”

She glanced over her shoulder, smiling when she found him fiddling with the Christmas tree. “Yeah, but this is different. It’s real, not sent by The Powers to keep Angel from killing himself.” She turned back to the window. “I like it.”

He was suddenly beside her, pulling her into his arms. “Merry Christmas, love.”

She turned in his arms, resting her head against his chest. “I’m so glad you’re here, Spike.”

“Not going anywhere, Nibblet.” He placed a kiss on top of her head.

“After everything, though,” she paused, gazing up at him. “Me hating you. You dying and coming back. Just having you here, with nothing to do except watch the snow…it’s nice.”

“Could think of a few other things to keep us occupied.”

“Can I have my sappy moment, please, minus the innuendo?”

“Right. Sorry.”

She giggled, settling against his chest. A second later, she looked back up, grinning. “On second thought…”
