“Maybe it’s for mind control. It catches the light and all the übervamps start doing ballet or something?” Grinning, Dawn held the amulet up and twisted the chain slightly, causing it to twirl. Tiny flecks of light bounced around the room.
Spike raised an eyebrow. “They’ve got minds to control?”
Her face fell. “Point.”
She looked at him again, sliding in closer on the cot. “But that doesn’t…”
He touched her cheek. “Don’t know what it means, Bit.”
“You’re not allowed to die.”
He placed a kiss on her forehead. “As long as you and Buffy live, I’ll be fine.”

“So where’re we going?”
Dawn snuggled up to Spike, sighing in contentment when his arm snaked around her shoulder. “How about somewhere warm and sunny, with no demons?”
She raised her head in time to catch Spike raising his eyebrow.
“Just kidding.” She giggled, returning her head to his shoulder. “You decide. I’m just happy you’re here.”
Keeping his eyes on the road, Spike leaned over and kissed the top of her head. “Some place far away from any magical jewelry?”
“Exactly. No Slayers. No amulets. Nothing but us.”
He kissed her again. “Think I like the sound of that.”
